Episode 7 | St. Beauty

POWER RANGERS | BLACK PANTHER | ALL THINGS HAIR

Take a breath of fresh air, sprinkled with the most vintage of vibes.
Stir in a pinch of raw musical talent and you've got Alex Belle (no 'e' after at the end of Alex; she will correct you!) and and Isis Valentino;
The Texture Lounge's first set of Muses for 2018.
What a way to kick off season 2!
St. Beauty joined me in the Lounge during New York Fashion Week where they were front row regulars at the Phillip Lim and Prabal Gurung shows amongst others.

Both ladies are paving the way and turning heads everywhere they go. Its' no wonder they caught the attention of Janelle Monae who snapped the pair up and signed them to her label The Wondaland Arts Society.
Sought after by the likes of Vogue magazine and high end fashion designers this is a duo you want to know.

ST. BEAUTY

MEET THE MUSIC INDUSTRY'S NEWEST VOCAL GODDESSES AND PROTÉGÉES OF JANELLE MONAE.

ATL-BASED | LOVERS OF VINTAGE

I interviewed Alex and Isis V. on a grey Monday morning, and to say their energy and wide-bright eyes sparked the room alight is an understatement. They were all the coffee that I needed.
In this episode, the natural beauties and I talk Power Rangers (the pink one specifically), Black Panther, how they met and their hair stories.
One of many elements that stand out about St. Beauty is their visual aesthetic. Their styling stands out among your fair-weather pop artists; with traces of their love for vintage filtering through as an homage to where they started from. If I am honest, this is what peaked by interest in the first place and when I tuned into their EP, i was not prepared to be blown out of the sonic universe. You have been warned.
Listen through to the end of the podcast for a very special excerpt of their song ' Lucid Dreams' sung exclusively for you Texture Lounge listeners!

If you are looking for new music, be sure to get a hold of St. Beauty's EP 'Running to the Sun'. It's hard to put this one in a box; it doesn't fit any one genre of music. A few words that spring to mind to describe their sound are: Fluid | Space | (he)Art. You just have to listen for yourself.

St. Beauty on their 'Running to the Sun' EP:

"This project is just the beginning for us," said St. Beauty.  "We have so much more to say, and we're so excited to continue to share our story with the world. Thank you to Janelle Monáe and Wondaland for being such an inspiration and believing in our vision"

A big thank you to both Alex and Isis V from St. Beauty for being our first muses of 2018.
